The Đó Theatre at Libera Nha Trang, inspired by the traditional Vietnamese fishing basket trap (“đó”), has quickly become a distinctive architectural icon, attracting more than 500,000 visitors.
Officially opened on April 1, 2023, the Đó Theatre immediately drew attention with its bold design shaped after the iconic fishing tool used by generations of Vietnamese fishermen. The building was recognized with a Vietnam Record as “The largest theatre in Vietnam featuring unique indigenous architecture inspired by the traditional Đó fishing trap.” Since then, it has become a must-see destination for both domestic and international travelers.
According to the developer, from early 2024 through Q1 2025, the theatre welcomed over 500,000 visitors – solid proof of its architectural appeal and cultural significance. This strong momentum has helped elevate Nha Trang Bay’s standing on the regional and global tourism map.
Beyond its striking architecture, the Đó Theatre is also home to “Rối Mơ – Life Puppets”, a signature performing arts show. The production blends traditional water puppetry with contemporary forms such as string puppets, animated puppetry, modern dance, and creatively arranged folk music. The show awakens cultural memory while presenting a fresh, modern interpretation of Vietnamese performing arts offering visitors an engaging way to explore local heritage.
“Rối Mơ” has achieved remarkable success and become a point of pride for Vietnam’s performing arts. The show was honored by Entrepreneur as “The world’s most unique and captivating performance” and currently ranks No.1 in the category “Theatres & Art Performances in Nha Trang” on TripAdvisor. By the end of Q1 2025, it had drawn over 100,000 audience members, with many fully booked performances filling all 500 seats.
