As the new administrative and political center of Khánh Hòa province, Nha Trang also ranks among the top 8 most beautiful bays in the world and one of Vietnam’s most livable cities. Following the merger, the city’s core area is expected to welcome a wave of population migration from Ninh Thuận for residence and work. Nha Trang also benefits from the trend of attracting “digital nomads,” similar to many major cities worldwide.
Drivers from the New Orientation

The first flag-raising event celebrating the Khánh Hòa – Ninh Thuận merger on July 1 was held at 2/4 Square.
The unification of Khánh Hòa and Ninh Thuận opens up a vast development space with diverse tourism potential, multi-sector economic growth, and modern infrastructure. Experts suggest this step will accelerate sustainable development of the coastal city, turning it into a growth hub in Central Vietnam.
According to the 2025–2030 development orientation draft, post-merger Khánh Hòa is positioned as a new national growth pole, aiming to become a centrally governed city by 2030. Economic growth is expected to maintain double-digit rates. By 2030, the province identifies three strategic pillars: high-tech industry, world-class coastal tourism, and sustainable renewable energy – sectors aligned with natural potential and global trends.
The new Khánh Hòa aims for 12% annual growth, doubling budget revenue by the end of the term, with total investment exceeding 1 million billion VND. With over 4,000 ha of industrial land, the province prioritizes projects in electronics, IT, precision mechanics, and clean industry. Large-scale wind and solar power development is emphasized, with a view toward nuclear energy as a stable, clean, sustainable source. This sets the foundation for Khánh Hòa to become a national and international data hub. Coastal tourism continues as a key economic driver, promoting new tourism integrated with coastal urban development.
Experts note that developing the blue economy and attracting investors in high-potential sectors will stimulate infrastructure growth, expand job opportunities, and foster new industries and services, driving a wave of mechanical migration for residence and entrepreneurship. In Bắc Nha Trang ward alone, the population is projected to reach 630,000–640,000 by 2030 and 750,000–780,000 by 2040 (a 26–30% increase from current levels), according to Decision 259/QĐ-TTg.
Market Potential
Tourism development and a diversified economy open new opportunities for Khánh Hòa’s labor force. The province has high demand for workers in hotels, restaurants, entertainment, travel, and services such as banking, finance, insurance, and retail. It also needs skilled personnel for high-tech industries. The location, infrastructure, and investment-friendly policies make the area attractive for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Nha Trang Bay is witnessing migration as more young people, and even those in their 60s–70s, move from major cities to start new ventures.
Young residents appreciate that, despite being a tourist hotspot, Nha Trang maintains an affordable cost of living. Food is plentiful and delicious, rental costs are roughly half of Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, yet the city remains vibrant. On average, there are three major events every two months, such as concerts with famous singers, large international brand events, tourism festivals, fairs, fireworks, giant kite releases, and paragliding. Meanwhile, the middle-aged and middle-class populations also choose Nha Trang to improve their quality of life. The AQI (air quality index) rarely exceeds 100.
Experts point out that Nha Trang’s rapid urban modernization, synchronized infrastructure, and transport connectivity, approaching international city standards, create favorable conditions for population migration, increasing demand for housing, commercial services, and tourism.
According to the Khánh Hòa Real Estate Brokerage Association, the announcement of the merger immediately spurred strong demand for property in Nha Trang, particularly from neighboring provinces like Ninh Thuận, Phú Yên, and the Central Highlands. Many individuals actively seek land to settle down and prepare for future work plans. Bắc Nha Trang is emerging as a key area, attracting significant attention and becoming a focal point of the new population migration wave to Nha Trang.
